Open Source electronic medical record and medical practice management software. OpenEMR includes electronic health records, scheduling software, insurance billing, accounting, and fine-grained access controls. OpenEMR is a free medical practice management, electronic medical records, prescription writing, and medical billing application. These programs are also referred to as electronic health records. OpenEMR is licensed under the General Gnu Public License (General GPL). It is a free open source replacement for medical applications such as Medical Manager, Health Pro, and Misys. It features support for EDI billing to clearing houses such as Availity, MD-Online, MedAvant and ZirMED using ANSI X12.OpenEMR Features:

For most users this address will consist of the name of your server followed by a forward leaning slash, "openemr" and another forward leaning slash. This should look like this: MyServerName/openemr/Be sure to check with your Administrator, as the location of your OpenEMR installation may be different.OpenEMR Windows Installation
1. Install and configure MySQL, Apache (or another PHP-capable webserver), and PHP5 (PHP4 is also supported).
2. Download OpenEMR
3. Extract the downloaded OpenEMR archive, change the name of the directory openemr-3.2.0 to just openemr, and then move this directory to your webserver root directory. Refer to your webserver documentation to obtain your webserver root directory.
4. Open up web-browser and point it to the installation script at: localhost/openemr/setup.php
